Degree Courses

1. Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (M.B., B.S.) of University of Calicut
    Four and a half year  course with one year compulsory rotating internship
    Recognised by the Medical Council of India

2. Bachelor of Dentistry (B.D.S.) of University of Calicut
    Four year  course with compulsory internship
    Recognised by the Dental Council of India

3. Bachelor of Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) of University of Calicut
    Four year recourse

Selection for Degree Courses

Selection to MBBS and BDS courses are by merit on the basis of the Entrance examination conducted by the Kerala State Board of Entrance examinations and 25% seats are allotted on the basis of All India Entrance Examination. However 50% of seats are under reserved quota.10% of seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes and Tribes described in the Constitution of India.The remaining 40% of seated are allotted to Other Backward Class (OBC) on merit basis. Kerala boasts of one of the cleanest entrance examination process although there have been occasional complaints.

Post Graduate Courses (M.D; M.S and M.D.S)

Post Graduate courses are available for all the pre-clinical, paraclinical and clinical subjects.Selection is on the basis of entrance examination as described for the graduate courses.Quota of reserved seats are available for  Lecturers working in concerned specialties as well as for doctors working under the Directorate of Health   Services.

Diploma courses

A variety of Diploma courses are available in almost all clinical subjects. The selection criteria is as for the post graduate courses mentioned above

Post Doctoral Courses (D.M and M.Ch)

Post Doctoral courses are available in almost all subspecialties of Medicine and Surgery. These  are D.M. in Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Nephrology as well as M.Ch in Thoracic Surgery, Urology, Pediatric Surgery and Plastic Surgery.The selection to these courses are based on entrance examination though 50% of seats are reserved for Lecturers in the concerned specialties working in Medical Colleges of Kerala.
